Buffer Creek Sporting Clays
The newest shooting facility in the
region, Buffer Creek Sporting Clays is located north of Somerset,
PA on 725 acres.It offers shooting
options such as a 5-stand facility that is a combination of trap, skeet and
sporting clays along with a 15 station sporting clays course offering 100
targets with more stations in the design phase.
Forbes State Forest
Nearly 60,000 acres of land from
14 separate tracts in Fayette, Somerset and Westmoreland counties. Much of the
forest lies along Laurel Ridge. Six state parks and three state forest picnic
areas have been developed in and around the forest.
Great Allegheny Passage
The Great Allegheny Passage is a 150-mile system of biking and hiking trails
that will connect Cumberland, MD and Pittsburgh, PA when completed.
Forty-two miles of trail course through southern Somerset County, offering
hikers and bikers a pristine woodland experience. Enjoy spectacular vistas from
bridges and viaducts high above tumbling mountain streams. Pass through the
3300-foot Big Savage Tunnel, the dramatic gateway to the Mason Dixon Line and
Maryland.
Kooser State Park
In the heart of the Laurel
Highlands at an altitude of 2,600 feet, Kooser State Park attracts visitors
year-round to its 250 acres of forest and the beautiful trout stream that flows
the full length of the park.
Laurel Caverns Geological Park
Go cave exploring in the undeveloped portions of the cave or rappel from a 45
foot drop in the developed cave. Laurel Caverns is Pennsylvania's largest cave with
over three miles of natural passages.
Laurel Hill State Park
Laurel Hill State Park consists of 3,935 acres of mountainous terrain in
Somerset County. The 63-acre Laurel Hill Lake is a focal point of the park.
Laurel Hill is surrounded by thousands of acres of pristine state park and state
forest lands. A trail system invites you to hike and explore the park and
observe a diversity of plants and wildlife.
Ohiopyle State Park
Located primarily in Fayette County, Ohiopyle State Park encompasses about
19,052 acres of rugged natural beauty and serves as the gateway to the Laurel
Mountains. The focal point of the area is the more than 14 miles of the
Youghiogheny River Gorge
that passes through the heart of the park. The "Yough" provides some of
the best whitewater boating in the Eastern U. S. as well as spectacular scenery.
Surrounding Ohiopyle Falls is the Falls Day Use Area, the central point for the
casual visitor. This area provides parking, modern restrooms, gift shop/snack
bar, and overlook platforms with magnificent scenery.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Duncan House at
Polymath Park Resort
Experience the height of Usonian Style at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Duncan
House. Created for everyday life in the 1950s, you will marvel at the
fascinating story of this home’s journey from Illinois to Pennsylvania.
Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater®
Fallingwater is the name of a very special house that is built over a waterfall.
Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s most famous architect, designed the house for his
clients, the Kaufmann family. Fallingwater was built between 1936 and
1939. It instantly became famous, and today it is a National Historic
Landmark.
Frank Lloyd Wright's Kentuck Knob
Designed on a hexagonal module, Kentuck Knob is a small one story Usonian
house. Both dramatic and serene, the house, situated just below the crest of
the hills, appears almost part of the mountain itself and stands two thousand
fifty feet above sea level.
Mountain Playhouse and Green Gables
The mountain playhouse is
Pennsylvania’s oldest professional stock theater and one of only twelve
professional summer stock theaters remaining in the United States today.
The theater is housed in a restored 1805 gristmill.
Flight 93 Memorial
Honor the brave men and women aboard Flight 93 who courageously gave their
lives on September 11th, thwarting a planned attack on our nation’s capital, and
thereby saving countless other lives.
Quecreek Mine Rescue
The Quecreek Mine Rescue took place in Somerset County on a 212 year old
dairy farm. Home of the miraculous rescue of nine miners trapped in a
flooded coal mine in July of 2002, this site continues to be an inspiration to
all. As you visit the rescue site, you are encourages to listen to the
details of the rescue from beginning to end, enjoy the artifacts, touch the
actual yellow rescue capsule that brought the men up from 240 feet below the
earth, take pictures of the site where the men were brought up from beneath and
feel the presence of hope, faith and victory that ahllowed this place of a
miraculous rescue.
Fort Ligonier
The impressive Fort, finest of its type in North America, is a full-scale,
on-site reconstruction of the 1758-1766 original, situated on a commanding
hilltop in the beautiful Laurel Highlands. Enriching living history activities
and pageantry such as reenactments, battles, encampments, folkcrafts and
archeological digs enhance your educational experience with a vividness no
textbook can match.
Everything at Fort Ligonier reveals an intimate link with the past - from
hand-forged iron hinges to massive hewn timbers - as you explore this colonial
outpost that guarded the vital land route to Pittsburgh and the unconquered West
beyond.
Fort Necessity
The confrontation at Fort Necessity in the summer of 1754 was the prelude to
the war fought by England and France for control of the North American
continent. The action at Fort Necessity was also the first major event in the
military career of George Washington. It was the only time he ever surrendered
to an enemy.

Located on a 150 acre site in the foothills of the Laurel Highlands of
southwestern Pennsylvania,
Stone Villa features over 12
varieties of grapes and over 20 varieties of wines. During the summer months, we
offer weekend entertainment to our patrons. You are welcome to bring a picnic
lunch and purchase a bottle of wine and sit outside and enjoy the beautiful
scenery and entertainment.

beautiful landscape and good wine make a trip to Stone Villa both a revitalizing
and memorable weekend or weekday afternoon.
Greendance Winery
Greendance--The Winery at Sand Hill is located on the same farm as Sand Hill
Berries. Sand Hill Berries, fruits are used to make exquisite fruit wines and
ports. Award-winning artisanal grape wines, both white and red, using cold
climate grapes grown here and grapes from other climactic regions in
Pennsylvania.
Visitors can taste up to 5 wines (and there is no charge)and then relax with a
picnic lunch and a bottle of wine in the dessert cafe, butterfly garden, or in
a secluded area of the farm.
