Frequently Asked Questions

We received some great questions from our community following the opening of the season. Here are some of the most common questions, and the answers!

Updated 01/04/21

Q. Do I have to wear a face covering while I’m skiing and snowboarding?

A. We are not requiring face coverings when you are skiing or snowboarding IF you are physically distancing from others, HOWEVER; we are recommending that you still keep your face covering on!

In addition, face coverings are required EVERYWHERE here including lift lines, chairlifts, inside all buildings, during all lessons, EVERYWHERE.

Face coverings should follow CDC guidelines. They should completely cover your nose and mouth and they should not have vents, valves or holes.

Q. Are you allowing neck gaiters/buffs?

A. Yes, but they must fit under CDC guidelines. Face coverings must completely cover your nose and mouth and they should not have vents, valves or holes.

Q. Do I need to mask up my child?

A. In line with local and CDC guidelines, we are asking that children aged 3 and older wear face coverings.

Q. What if I forgot my facemask?

A. Complementary single use face masks are available. There is also a variety of cloth masks and neck up/gaiters available in the Hiddne Valley Ski Shop.

Q. What do I do if I observe someone not following the face coverings rules?

A. Please tell any resort personnel immediately. All Resort Professionals have been trained in mask guidance and can request that a guest wear a face covering.

Q. I have a medical exemption from wearing facemasks…can I still come to the resort? What do I need to do?

A. According to the CDC, most people with underlying medical conditions can and should wear masks. If you have respiratory conditions and are concerned about wearing a mask safely, discuss with your healthcare provider the benefits and potential risks of wearing a mask.

If you have asthma, you can wear a mask. Discuss with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns about wearing a mask.

Where can I eat?

A. All of your favorite dining outlets will be available for dine-in or takeout. Sunrise Sunset, Clocktower, Glaciers and Avalanche will all be open.

Q. Can I purchase an alcoholic beverage anywhere?

A. Yes, many of our dining outlets have alcohol for sale. Please note that the State of Pennsylvania order indicates that one must order a meal in order to purchase alcohol.

Q. Where can I put my clothes or gear?

A. We recommend visiting basket in the Rental Center or a locker in the locker room adjacent to the ski shop.

Q. Where can I go to the bathroom?

A. The bathrooms in Sunrise Sunset, outside the locker room and near Clocktower will be open to the public.

No-Touch Online Ticket Sales

We have moved season passes, lift tickets, ski and snowboard rentals and snowsports school lessons to a convenient, easy-to-use online purchasing system.

Please remember that this means that you will need to plan ahead and make your purchases in advance this winter. The good news is that with these changes we will see everyone spending less time indoors, less contact with high-touch points and more time on the snow!

Lift Tickets

Pre-purchase your lift tickets using your mobile device or computer, it’s quick and easy! Simply present your mobile purchase bar code at the ticket window in the plaza. Our Ticket attendants will scan your code, you will receive your ticket and wicket and you’ll be on your way to hit the slopes!

Required Pre-purchase Ticket Sale FAQ’s

For the best mountain adventure experience, Hidden Valley will be managing on-snow capacity by limiting the number of lift tickets sold each day. Please plan ahead and buy your tickets online.

This DOES NOT affect Season Passholders, Six Tix Passholders and Lodging Guests as they are welcome to ski or snowboard any day without an advanced purchase.

Q. How far in advance can I book my tickets?
A. Tickets will be available up to 14 days out.

Q. Can I still buy a lift ticket at the resort?
A. Yes, but we cannot guarantee that tickets will be available.

Q. Is my lift ticket transferable?
A. No, lift tickets are non-transferrable. Lift tickets are only available for the ticketed guest name and for the date you purchased.

Q. I am planning a ski trip this winter to stay in your hotel, what if lift tickets are sold out?
A. All lodging guests will have the ability to buy lift tickets on all days of their stay.

Q. Are you selling twilight tickets?
A. No. We are limiting the number of skiers and riders on the mountain and will not be offering twilight tickets. We are only selling an all day ticket and night tickets, while supplies last.

Q. I have a pass, do I need to make a reservation?
A. Passholders do not need to make a reservation.

Q. I have lessons booked? What do I do?
A. You will be guaranteed a lift ticket if you reserve a lesson.

Q. What happens if I book/purchase my tickets and then can’t make it due to health concerns.
A. Our Guest Services can offer a refund.

Q. What if I want to purchase a ticket with the Military discount?
A. Please show your ID at our Ticket Windows to purchase or pick up your lift ticket. There is no maximum for these tickets.

Q. What if I am a 70-79 year old half price ticket buyer or 80+ complimentary ticket buyer?
A. Please show your ID at our Ticket Windows to purchase or pick up your lift ticket. There is no maximum for these tickets.

Lift Lines

The lift line will look a little different this year. Guests will still be asked to load in groups, however our staff will not ask guests to form groups with someone who is not with their traveling group or “herd”. If a guest requests to sit alone, staff will allow the single or group to ride separately on any lift.

All guests are required to wear a face covering while in the lift line and riding the lift. All guests are required to maintain 6’ physical distancing while in line (except among groups traveling together). Lift lines will have 6’ spacing between adjacent lines and other guests/employees. Signage and markers will be used to help cue the guests at 6’ spacing in lift lines. Side to side distancing will be achieved with “ghost” lanes when adequate space is available. Conveyors will have markers indicating 6’ spacing.

Season Passes

Purchase your season pass using your mobile device or computer, it’s quick and easy!

Due to COVID and for everyone’s safety, the Season Pass Office will not be open to the public this winter. We have created one of the ticket windows in the main plaza just for passholders. Simply order your pass online (you can now load your own photo!) and pick it up at the Passholder Window!

Ski & Snowboard Rentals

Please make your ski and snowboard rental purchases prior to arriving at the resort. Our new online system means you can complete your transaction via mobile device or computer, limiting time spent indoors in high-contact areas and getting you on the snow faster.

Simply proceed to the full-service boot area, show your mobile purchase bar code and you will receive your ski or snowboard boots. Next, visit one of our rental technicians, let them scan your bar code and receive your skis or snowboard. Queuing lines and directional markers will be in place to allow for one-directional travel throughout the rental experience. Please note that we have increased sanitization via electrostatic sprayers utilized after each use of rental equipment.

Snowsports School

Please make your ski and snowboard lesson purchase prior to arriving at the resort. Our new online system means you can complete your transaction via mobile device or computer, reducing time spent indoors and contact with high touch points, getting you on the snow faster. Simply show your mobile purchase bar code to the supervisor at the Snowsports lineup outside on the snow.

To comply with COVID guidelines, we have revised our snowsports product offerings with a focus on private lessons or ‘ski with your herd’ lessons.

Food & Beverage Operations

Once again, things will look a little different this year but we have worked very hard to ensure that the necessary changes result in a positive impact to guest experience.

All restaurants and bars at Hidden Valley Resort are permitted to provide take-out and dine-in service as long as we adhere to the requirements of the guidance including complying with maximum occupancy limits.

The following options will be open for the winter season:

  • – Clock Tower Restaurant with expanded seating in The Yukon!
  • – Sunrise Sunset Cafe
  • – NEW Glaciers will be operating as Glaciers Grab N Go
  • – NEW Clocktower Take Out

Please note that we are currently at 50% occupancy for indoor dining. Bars are closed for service as mandated by the state of Pennsylvania. Alcoholic beverages must be consumed with a meal.
